The Federation of Wellington Community Primary School & Marlborough Infant School

British Values

Our Federation is committed to serving its community. We recognise the multi-cultural, multi-faith and ever-changing nature of the United Kingdom and understand the vital role we have in ensuring that groups or individuals within our schools are not subjected to intimidation or radicalisation by those wishing to unduly or illegally influence them.

Promoting British Values
In accordance with The Department for Education, we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.

The Department for Education states that: "Schools should promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs."

Please use the links below to see how we reinforce these values through the education that we provide:

Our school reflects British values in all that we do. We aim to nurture our children on their journey through life so they can grow into safe, caring, democratic, responsible and tolerant adults who make a positive difference to British society and to the world. We encourage our children to be creative, unique, open-minded and independent individuals, respectful of themselves and of others in our school, our local community and the wider world. The school uses strategies within the National Curriculum and beyond to secure such outcomes for students.

All staff receive training on 'the Prevent duty'. More information on this can be found through the following link an in the 'Policies' section on our website:
